About Adrienne

I am a fully qualified Funeral Celebrant and hold the NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy.  As is common in this profession, I weaved my way into it through a combination of career paths and personal development.

I started my working life in banking, progressing to management level.  After having my first child, I began working for the Citizens Advice Bureau, helping people in financial difficulties to take back control of their situation.  It was in 2003 when I moved to Rugby, that I then changed direction again, working for the General Social Care Council (which was England’s Social Care Regulator at the time).  Here, I continued to provide support to my own team until closure forced redundancy.  Although I enjoyed my office roles, it was working with people, especially those forced to deal with difficult situations, which gave me the most satisfaction.

I decided to re-train and qualified as a sports massage therapist and fitness instructor.  Based at a ladies only gym, I was able to not only help on a physical level but also on so many others, especially emotional well-being.  By this time I had my second child and working part-time, I was able to balance my work and my family life.

Circumstances again forced a change in career when I sustained an injury.  I started working with families who were going through the Family Court and couldn’t afford legal representation.  As a McKenzie Friend, I provided them with support, companionship and information through very difficult and harrowing times.

Due to my own family circumstances, I have been a Trustee of a local charity which provides support and activities for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder and I enjoy working with my local community.

More recently, I have worked for the local county council supporting children in care.

All of these experiences have helped me to develop in my role as a Funeral Celebrant.  I feel that I have the best job in the world....for me.   My funeral experiences before becoming a Celebrant also made me determined to do my very best.  A “Good Send-off” compared to a service with no feeling or personal content can make a huge difference to loved ones at such a raw emotional time.  However sad the occasion is, it can also be an uplifting one as we remember and celebrate a life in the most appropriate way for the individual.  It is my job to make sure it is all you would want it to be, you are fully informed of your choices and reassured that everything is in good hands.

I have found my career for life and my wish is to be able to provide the people of my home town of Rugby and surrounding area a personal, fitting and unique tribute when they leave us.

I also aim to empower and enlighten our community on the choices we have over our funeral arrangements - there is no carbon copy. We all have different lives, so why should our final goodbye be the same as anyone else’s?

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help.  If you are bereaved and looking for help with any aspect of a funeral service, or planning your own affairs to save your loved ones the stress and responsibility, I am a click or a phone call away.  I am able to work with any Funeral Director,  so if you let them know you would like me to take your service they will be able to get in touch with me and I will contact you to arrange to meet.
